Words: Charles Wesley, 1739
Music: Lyra Davidica,, 1708
Tune: EASTER HYMN
Note: In the first two alleluias, the Dm7 goes on the first quarter note
(second beat) of the measure. The C goes on the first beat of the second
measure, the G on the second, and the final C on the third. In the third
alleluia, the D7 goes on the third beat of the first measure (it’s actually
a D7sus going to a D7 on the and of three), the G goes on the fourth beat,
the D on the second beat of the second measure, and the final G on the third
beat of the second measure. In the final measure, the G goes on beat 2, and the
C goes on beat 3.
I’ve updated the chords to more closely match those in the hymnal.
