Here’s a trick for making chords line up properly on the web:
The basic issue is that the letters and especially the spaces are not the same width in all fonts or on all computers; i is much narrower than m in this font, for instance. The workaround is to type the chords in a word processor (NotePad or TextEdit will work fine) and use a so-called monospace font (Courier is a good choice, or anything containing the word ‘monospace’ or ending in ‘mono’). Space out the chords the way you want and be confident that they will display and print correctly.
If you’re putting the chords on a website (e.g. this blog), all you have to do is either select a monospace font (it doesn’t necessarily have to be the one you used before) or, if there is no font selector, place the phrase ‘
’ (without the quotes) before your chords and the the phrase ‘
’ after them. These are internet codes for ‘preformatted’ and will use a monospace font.
Good luck, and thanks for the chords!
Thanks for the chords, Chris. I’ve modified them slightly and will be posting them on the page for 664 very soon. Also, to all the others who have contributed, I’m not ignoring you, just very busy.
I would love to see chords to 3 hymns my faith community is beginning to sing and likes to sing; #180 Jesus Es Me Rey Soberano (O Jesus, My King and My Sovereign), #233 En el Frio Invernal (Cold December Flies Away) and #411 Dear Lord, Lead Me Day by Day.
I sometimes look to see if I can locate chords for hymns on other sites. Sometimes I am fortunate. Thank you for consolidating and organizing this important work for ministry.

Because He Lives 364
(Capo 1st fret)
[G] God sent His son, they [G7] called Him [C] Jesus
[C6] He came to [G] lo[Am]o[G]ove, heal, and for[Am]gi[Am7]i[D7]ve.
He lived and [G] died to buy my [C] pardon,
An [Cm] empty [G] grave is there to [D7] prove my Savior [G] lives.
Chorus:
[G] Because He lives, I can [G7] face to[C]morrow.
[C6] Because He [G] li[D7]i[G]ives, All fear is [Am] go[Am7]o[D7]one.
Be[G]cause I kno[Gsus4]o[G]ow He holds the [C] future,
And [Cm] life is [G] worth the living [D7] just because He [G] lives.
[G] How sweet to hold a [G7] newborn [C] baby,
[C6] And feel the [G] pri[Am]i[G]ide and joy he [Am] gi[Am7]i[D7]ives.
But greater [G] still the calm as[C]surance,
This [Cm] child can [G] face uncertain [D7] days because He [G] lives.
[G] And then one day I’ll [G7] cross the [C] river,
[C6] I’ll fight life’s [G] fi[Am]i[G]inal war with [Am] pa[Am7]a[D7]ain.
And then as [G] death gives way to [C] victory,
I’ll [Cm] see the [G] lights of glory [D7] and I’ll know He [G] lives.
